Georgia Power Scheduled Maintenance - Barrow County Schools (KBAR) Jul 17, 2026 18:00-23:00 EDT

Georgia Power will be cutting power to the data center building.

This maintenance will occur on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

It has the potential to take our optical and routing equipment down for KBAR. We anticipate that the UPS will hold until a generator kicks in.

Network Support Services (NSS) will be applying a hotfix to the firewalls at the Shared Services Center (SSCPA / SSCPB) to address CVEs published by Palo Alto Networks.

This maintenance will occur on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

All affected firewalls are in high-availability pairs and will be upgraded one member of the pair at a time to avoid downtime.

This is due to fiscal year-end activities that schools will be completing today to satisfy state audit requirements.
