Systems Support Services (SSS) will be updating the main production, Isilon, to address several security vulnerabilities and introduce service improvements.
This is the Isilon that hosts the FS1, NFSHOME, and various other file shares, including several database-related file shares which all production services hosted on-premises rely on in some capacity.
This maintenance will occur on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The update should be non-disruptive, as the Isilon has redundant nodes that are designed to be updated in sequence without any service interruptions. Furthermore, Systems recently updated the Isilon at UGA without any issues whatsoever.
This is a routine procedure that has been performed without issue for the past few years. However, in the event a file share becomes unresponsive, please notify the appropriate Systems OS team (either Linux or Windows) for the affected server. They will be best positioned to address any issues and follow-up with the Storage and Backups team as needed.

Network Support Services (NSS) will be replacing the firewalls at the University System Office (USO). This will include moving primary network connections to the new distribution switches previously installed and re-addressing management interfaces on the UPS units in the network closets to match the new network addressing scheme for the USO.
This maintenance will occur on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until Friday, June 26, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
There will be disruptions to network services as the interfaces are moved from the old firewalls and switches to the new equipment. These are anticipated to be brief but could extend to the limits of the maintenance window if troubleshooting is necessary during installation.
