Investigating - USG Cybersecurity has received multiple reports of a suspicious email message sent to USO employees. This message has the subject line, "Urgent Request" and may appear to be from someone you know. The body of the message contains the following text:

Hello,

Investigating - USG Library users may encounter a 500 Internal Server Error when accessing an EBSCO eBook title via Primo.

The linking issue (500 Internal Server Error) with EBSCO article databases is fully resolved. While the issue with article databases is resolved, the root cause of the problem is still under investigation by EBSCO and OpenAthens. Please contact us if you notice any issues with access to databases or article content: https://www.galileo.usg.edu/contact/

The solution applied by EBSCO repaired access to article databases, but negatively impacted access to EBSCO eBooks via Primo.

EBSCO Support is aware of this issue, and is currently investigating.

The workaround in this case is to search for and access the title directly in the appropriate eBook database.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will post an update when issues are resolved.

Avaya Telephone System Scheduled Maintenance Jan 23, 21:00 - Jan 24, 07:00 EST
Network Support Services (NSS) along with Avaya will perform a phone system and voicemail upgrade. from Thursday January 23, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. until Friday January 24, 2020 at 7:00 a.m. This work will be service affecting. Phones and voicemail will intermittently be out of service for the duration of this maintenance.

Network Support Services (NSS) will be rebooting the Kennesaw (KEN.rtr) and Kennesaw Marietta Campus (SPSU.rtr) routers to address software related bugs. This maintenance will occur on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 11:00 p.m. until Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 7:00 a.m.

Services at Kennesaw and Kennesaw Marietta Campus will be impacted during the reload. Service impact duration should be less than 30 minutes.

The University of Georgia (UGA) will be performing maintenance on their campus network on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 6:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. As a result, there will be intermittent network outages at GIL and GALILEO Data Centers throughout the day.

The following GIL services may be intermittently affected:

* GIL and GIL-Find redirects (example: gilfind.gsu.edu, gilfind.ggc.edu, gil. ) may function intermittently.

* Alma Catalog Error form
* Alma Patron Loads integration (Please do not try to load patrons during the maintenance window)

Zayo Telecom will be performing fiber maintenance on the Alpharetta Fiber Ring on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. No outages are expected during this time, but services on the Alpharetta Fiber Ring will run in protect mode.

Resolved - We are pleased to report the EBSCO linking issue for the institutions live on OpenAthens is now resolved.

GALILEO staff tested links across institutions and checked EBSCO linking configurations in EBSCO and OpenAthens administration accounts. Links are now working properly and the linking syntax is properly configured. The issue is now resolved.

Update - Since last Tuesday, January 14, users have experienced an access issue when trying to access EBSCO content, including the EBSCO Discovery Service, via OpenAthens.

For some institutions using Alma/Primo, linking to EBSCO content is not functioning properly (USG, TCSG pilot sites).

In all cases, users are seeing a “500 Internal Server Error” message when attempting to access EBSCO resources. We apologize for the inconvenience.

GALILEO Support was notified earlier today that a repair was made to the EBSCO linking syntax in OpenAthens.
As of Noon today, the repair is in production, and GALILEO and EBSCO support will begin testing.

Although a repair is now in place, users may still encounter issues. Workarounds are available as follows:

A Library Staff workaround was sent out to the GALILEO listserv.

Library Patrons: Users can also workaround the issue by accessing GALILEO via your institutional GALILEO password.

Go into GALILEO:
https://galileo.usg.edu
Then access GALILEO via the GALILEO password for your institution. You should then be able to access EBSCO resources via the A-Z List on GALILEO.

Investigating - The process that refreshes Personal Data failed last night so any queries that utilize the Personal_Data table will produce inaccurate results. Manager Self Service is not returning any results or direct reports. There is no workaround at this time.

Resolved - After monitoring the situation, Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) has confirmed the stability of applications using sso.uga.edu. The system should continue operating normally.

Investigating - Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) is currently investigating reports of errors from some applications using sso.uga.edu which may affect GeorgiaView access at the University of Georgia. Affected users may be unable to login to GeorgiaView. EITS is reviewing the systems and will update the status as more details are known.

The approximate impact timings were Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. ET. The exact timings will be provided by D2L in a pending post-mortem. The system should continue operating normally.
