GeorgiaVIEW Vista Scheduled Upgrade (2/12-13/2010)

WHAT: Maintenance to upgrade the GeorgiaVIEW Vista 8 production environments for Hotfix (HF) 1 will occur during regularly scheduled GeorgiaVIEW maintenance (http://www.usg.edu/gaview/support/maint-schedule.phtml).
This maintenance period will also coincide with maintenance for upgrading specific institutional Wimba Classroom servers to version 6.0. This upgrade will provide for additional functional enhancements as well as implement several fixes. In addition to being able to access this new functionality in Wimba Classroom after the upgrade, this combined maintenance will allow users to take advantage of the enhanced functionality of Wimba through the integration with Vista (for those institutions utilizing integration). WHEN: Friday, February 12, 2010, 10:00 p.m. until approximately 7:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010.
WHY: GeorgiaVIEW Vista HF1 Upgrade which includes the installation of Hotfix 1, application of the Assessment Patch (VST-4668), application of the MyGrades Patch (VST-4862), and an upgrade of the Wimba PowerLink from version 3.3 to 4.0.

- D1: East Georgia College, Georgia College and State University, Georgia Gwinnett College, GeorgiaONmyLINE (eCore, WebBSIT, Foreign Languages, WebMBA, European Union), Savannah State University
- D2: Georgia Southern University
- D4: Augusta State University, Clayton State University, College of Coastal Georgia, Columbus State University, Medical College of Georgia
* Undergoing scheduled maintenance but NOT part of this upgrade cycle until later in the month of February: *
- D3: Dalton State College, Georgia Highlands College, University of West Georgia, Waycross College
- D5: Georgia State University
INFORMATION FOR INSTITUTIONS - WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
There are specific steps that are necessary for Vista Institutional Administrators to complete both before and after the upgrade. Preparation and testing requirements are available for reference in the GeorgVIEWiki - http://gaview.oiit.wikispaces.net/Upgrades. Please note that it will be necessary for a Vista Institutional Administrator to be available for functional testing upon completion of the upgrade. Additional details regarding communication and testing steps will be provided through subsequent e-mail announcements.

As with any major upgrade with multiple steps, it is possible that dates/times may need to shift based on progress of each upgrade.
